During this trip, we will visit the manors related to the riches of the Medieval Radziwiłł family. We will first visit the manor of Kristinas Astikas, the ancestor of the noble Radziwiłł family, who is considered the father of the branch of Astikai family-Radziwiłł family, and who was the representative of Pienionys Manor in Anykščiai district in the early 15th century. Radvila Astikaitis, an influential Lithuanian state figure, the Grand Marshal of Lithuania, Voivode of Trakai and Castellan of Vilnius, who provided a starting point for the name of the Radziwiłł family, was one of the sons of Kristinas Astikas.
Kristinas Astikas also owned Alanta in Molėtai district. A few years before his death, he transferred the title of ownership of Alanta to his wife Ona. Later Krzysztof Mikołaj “Perkūnas” Radziwiłł, the Hetman of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, who was one of the sons of Mikołaj “the Red” Radziwiłł, bought the Alanta eldership and manor.
Bikuškis Manor in Utena district was among many manors that were managed by the nobleman Radvila Astikaitis. Historical buildings and environment of the place of the manor, which is located in the picturesque landscape of Aukštaitija, are still cherished today.
The Radziwiłł family owned Vasaknai Estate in Zarasai district from the 16th century. Today, old brewing traditions are developed in Vasaknai Manor. The participants in the tour will have lunch at Vasaknai Manor.
Dubingiai town, which is located next to the Lake Asveja, which is the longest lake in Lithuania, is considered the patrimony of the noble Radziwiłł family.
Today, Dubingiai castle site is located on the hill on which there are the ruins of the Evangelical Reformed Church of the 16th-17th centuries, which survived to the present day, and the exposition of the remains of the palace, which belonged to the Radziwiłł family.
The Royal Manor of Liubavas was in a convenient strategic location, on the way to Dubingiai. For this reason, Mikołaj “the Red” Radziwiłł got it in exchange for another patrimonial manor. This manor was famous for its resources and advanced farming approach, which is still visible from the subsequent and restored buildings having survived to the present day.
The expected return to Vilnius is about 7:00 PM.
