Which dishes originate from Vilnius? What was the difference between the table of the townspeople and the kings? Where in the city was the best beer served? Which dishes make the city famous abroad? Communities, ethnic, religious and social groups, that lived in Vilnius in the past, each with its own spices and accents, formed a vibrant pot of cultures. Today, many of the meals from this culture pot have become national – some of them are better known, while others still give joy of discovery.
During the tour, we will taste a variety of appetizers, dishes and drinks that are related to ethnic and social groups of the townspeople, we will talk about the occurrence of these products in the city, we will visit the places which fall among the most beautiful places in the city, and listen to the stories told by contemporaries from different periods of the city about the culinary culture of the city. A local guide, who loves food, will tell us about the emergence of various dishes, the secrets of cooking and the peculiarities of eating.
Important information: Products that contain meat, gluten, lactose and alcohol are served during the program. Some meat products and alcoholic beverages can be replaced with vegetarian and non-alcoholic ones. Product intolerances and allergies should be made known in advance. There is a limited number of toilets on the route. Some places on the route may not be adapted for people with reduced mobility. On certain days or at certain time some sites may not be working.
